'Minnesota
Fats' (Rudolph Wanderone) is the most recognized name in the history
of billiards. With his unique style, persona and gift for the game,
Minnesota Fats became a legend for all time, and he managed to give pool
more popular exposure than any other player in history. Fats was a showman
and a hustler. His boast, 'I'm the greatest pool player that ever lived,
bar none', drew endless string of challengers. Jackie Gleason immortalized
Minnesota Fats in the classic movie 'The Hustler', which also starred Paul
Newman and George C. Scott. In the 60's, Fats hosted a national
television show on which he challenged television and movie starts to
play. His promotion of both the sport and himself was incessant. Minnesota
Fats loved to play the game. But he also loved to share his knowledge with
others. He once said, 'I've spent all of my life playing the various games
that are possible on a pool table and I am never over the spectacular
interest there is in the game.' His spirit lives on through these
products.
We
are honored to be the custodians of the rich Minnesota Fats tradition.
